Feeding body & soul by Times Herald Staff

Partners for Families held a Thanksgiving dinner for people in need Thursday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Main Street in Norristown. According to Partners for Families Director Brian Akamine, the organization anticipated feeding more than 250 families. More than 28 turkeys with all the trimmings — were donated by ShopRite and Giant Foods, and prepared by students in the culinary arts program at the Central Montgomery County Vo-Technical Center in Norristown and in conjunction with Montgomery County Human Services cafeteria services assisting with refrigeration and food prep on the day of the dinner, Akamine stated in an e-mail.

Pastor JR endorses: Junky Car Club

Well, I did something that I never thought I'd do - I joined a car-club. But this car club is different. It's about living with less so we can give more.

The club is called: http://www.junkycarclub.com/

The Junky Car Club was established in the spring of 2006 when Mike Foster decided to sell his fully loaded Infiniti G35 sports car to drive a junky 1993 Toyota Camry. As an act of rebellion against consumerism and with the desire to give more to worthy causes, Mike began to enlist his friends and associates to join him in this experiment of driving with less and giving more.

I'm a member (I'm driving a 2000 jeep with 160,000 miles on it)! How about you?

Men at the Cross

This past Friday and Saturday 26 guys from Storehouse Church attended a conference called, "Men at the Cross". There was no fluf at this conference. It had a laser focus on discipleship. The objective of the conference was to give men the tools for discipleship.

The theme verse was: 2 Timothy 2:2 (NIV) And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.

You will be hearing more about this in the future... stay tuned...

Are you looking for a way to connect with other guys?
